Pyramids of the egyptians – or something like that.

Yesterday I was cleaning up my room and then something pretty funny happened to me. (Indeed, you can use these word together in one sentence!)

I own such a frame, which has no picture inside but pretty fine sand and oil. By mixing differently colored sand, you can easily create many different “Dustworlds” by just turning around the frame.

Well, this one is pretty much forever mine and because he looses oil over time, there is now some air inside the glass. When cleaning my room, I just took the frame and put it somewhere else, without noticing the picture.

By accident I looked at the frame a little later and what I saw was so interesting, that I thought you may want to see this, too:

The Settlers II: The Next Generation (for Mac)

Okay, so this is it – the first post in my series “No, this blog does not belong to Daniel only – even though I din’t post anything for nearly 3 months!”. Today I’m going to write a bit about the game The Settlers II: The Next Generation.

Just when the game was released I had to buy it, being addicted to The Settlers II in original. At some day I (fortunately!) switched over to the Mac and thus buried all of my games – none would run on the Mac natively.

But only a few days ago I stumbled upon this: The Settlers II as Cider Port (sorry, german link only) for the Mac. Of course, this version may not be found on Amazon.com but well, I wanted to try it nonetheless. When the game was finished, I ran it for the first time and – it was like wow!

Even using the integrated chipsetgraphics on my MacBook Pro didn’t stop the game from seamlessly running at full detail-settings. No switching over to dedicated card is necessary here!

And guess what? The game is as addicting as it has been, the Mac doesn’t change anything on this! I, for myself, look forward to many hours in the game and want to leave you just one little gimmick at the end: (more…)

iPhone and iPod FM Transmitter

Recently, I auctioned a FM transmitter for my iPhone which costed only 5 € incl. shipping. I thought I couldn’t do anything wrong. The package included the car connecter to charge the iPhone and the transmitter self. The frequency goes up by 88.1 – 107.9 MHz and the backlight glows blue, the device itself is simple to use. One button to increase and one to reduce the frequency.

Simply plug in the iPhone, start “iPod” and listen to the music. One point that bothers me is the not shielded device. Sometimes this produces the not shielded sound. But for 5 € a funny gadget. The Device works also with many iPod variants (here you haven’t the the not shielded sound). For those of you who got interested, click here.

Change proofreading in Pages

Lately, my Pages was completely in English, but sometimes I also wanted to write something in German. Unfortunately, this text was underlined red. Now, to switch back to German, you have to open the “Inspector” (Shortcut ⌥ ⌘ I).

Here you have the opportunity to choose whatever language you like. Advice: Clicking the point All makes it easier.
