Embed adium onto desktop

Adium – probably the best IM for Mac. I use it everyday, to contact my pals using ICQ, Skype (Plugin), Aim, Jabber, whatsoever.
Of course you have all your friends in the contact list, so as to be able to contact them as soon as possible, by just one click. In adium, this list is an extra window, but I wanted to get this embedded into my desktop, so it won’t take away real-estate on my screen.

There is a simple solution to my problem: Setting adiums style-preferences appropriate. You can see the result on the right-hand side. I cleared out all my contacts’ names, but trust me, font is pretty well-readable!

To get your standard list to look like mine just follow these few steps:

First, set Theme and Layout of you contacts list to “Aqualicious”. Also, set “Window style” to “Borderless”:

To get the list translucent, change background-color to have saturation of 0% and switch off alternating coloring. Clicking “Color Theme: Aqualicious Customize…” to get to the following window and then “Background” to get to the 2nd (sorry for this to be in german, the slider at the bottom is what needs to be changed!):

Now we adjust the colors of the contacts’ status, because darker color is better-readable on desktop pictures.

Set “Detailed status text”, for info-texts below contacts’ names to be darker.

Finally, we change the font text is displayed in. I set it to be bold, because then one can read it way better.
At menu “Appereance”, click on  “List Layout: Aqualicious Customize…“:

When you have done all the steps right, you can now enjoy the contact list being embedded right on your desktop, below all the other windows!

Have fun!
